Jeremy Cheng

With over two decades of experience in the field of family enterprise, Jeremy works closely with enterprising families to develop and review their governance systems, facilitate strategic transitions of their legacies, and nurture individual and organizational capabilities to achieve their shared future. Family learning is a key tool that he embraces, and he also guides rising-generation members in identifying their niche and preparing for boundaryless career success.

Jeremy’s passion extends to creating new knowledge in the field. He holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Additionally, he played leadership roles in global research projects and was a core member of two leading family business centers in Hong Kong, where he orchestrated impactful family business events, programs, and research projects. In his current role with LGA, Jeremy continues his scholarly work to stay abreast of the rapidly evolving family enterprise field.

An avid contributor to family advisory practices, Jeremy is a Board Member of the Family Firm Institute (FFI), the foremost multidisciplinary professional association for family enterprises globally. He is recognized as an FFI Fellow, a faculty member of FFI’s Global Education Network, and the Founding Chair of the FFI Asian Circle. In addition to his other accolades, Jeremy received the FFI Barbara Hollander Award in 2021, recognizing his profound interest in family business and his passion for education and learning. As a trusted collaborator, he works with professional firms as a subject expert or advisory board member across different jurisdictions.

Jeremy enjoys engaging in conversations with families, advisors, and scholars. Beyond the podium, he has authored over 50 industry reports, case studies, practitioner/media articles, book chapters, and journal papers on topics such as family business, family office, governance, transgenerational entrepreneurship, and family advisory.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Linguistics from CUHK in Hong Kong, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, and a PhD in Management from CUHK.

Jeremy lives in Hong Kong SAR, China, and speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
