Family Business Research Analyst
The Family Business Research Analyst is responsible for research on enterprising families, both individual and prospective clients and the broader entrepreneurial universe. The position supports advisors in their client engagements and also prepares data for broader research into enterprising families and their philanthropic activities.
Benchmark clients’ businesses with peer business, using published data, and private data we have accumulated in our years in business, or purchased from specialized sources. Analyze data, prepare draft data and analytical reports for advisors to use with clients or in academic articles or conference presentations.
Perform in-depth research on potential clients to ensure that advisors have extensive information on the family, the business and its ownership.
Maintain an up-to-date archive of research and news articles on information related to enterprising family clients, including both academic research and specialist and general media outlets.
Using both external and internal information, maintain a global database of benchmarking information on how family businesses operate around the world.
This information will support advisors’ work with clients as well as research papers and presentations.
Design surveys and analyze survey data. Design surveys to elicit information from family business members to understand their businesses, goals and priorities, and also to cross check and evaluate their perceptions versus the actual operation of their businesses.
Do cost-benefit and profitability analysis of all engagements, using and extending Salesforce for data collection and analysis.
Requires at least a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Information Technology and four or five years upper-level managerial experience (owner, CEO, CFO, or COO) in an enterprising family-owned business with at least ten employees in the U.S. or Latin America.
