Luis Pedro Recinos

Luis Pedro brings a distinctive dual perspective to his advisory work, having served both as a senior executive within a large family enterprise and as a member of his own multigenerational family business. He understands firsthand the complexities and opportunities that arise at the intersection of family, ownership, governance, and business leadership, particularly during periods of growth, succession, professionalization, and generational transition.

He has extensive experience working with boards, executive teams, and family shareholders on topics including governance structures, strategic alignment and transformation, leadership, organizational culture, succession planning, and long-term value creation. His approach combines strategic rigor with a strong emphasis on values, relationships, and the human dynamics within enterprising families.

Luis Pedro is a former C-level executive with more than 24 years of business experience, including 20 years within a large and diversified “multilatina” family-owned corporation operating in the food, energy, and real estate development sectors. There, he led the Corporate Center and worked closely with the owning family.

As a third-generation family member, he serves on the board of his family’s sugar and energy business and is actively involved in the family office, as well as in family continuity and governance processes. He also serves on multiple boards and committees, including those of higher education and nonprofit institutions in Central America.

He is an active member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), where he has served in leadership roles within the Guatemala Chapter and the Latin America region, as well as Regional Board Champion for the organization’s Global Family Business Network.

Luis Pedro holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University, a Master of Science in Management from the University of Florida, and an Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management.

He is the author of El legado de Thiago: Una travesía de 365 días de gratitud, a reflection on the transformative power of gratitude in the face of adversity and loss. He is also an international speaker on authentic leadership, purpose, gratitude, and values-based living.

Luis Pedro lives in Guatemala City with his wife and three children. He enjoys running, reading, and music.
