Leo’s work over more than three decades spans senior family business and family office leadership as well as public practice. With a passionate, thoughtful approach to the challenges enterprising families face, he specializes in governance design, family office strategy, continuity planning, strategic alignment, and risk management, pairing deep financial and investment expertise with the strategic fluency needed to protect and grow every form of a family’s capital – human, financial and structural – across generations.
Leo is drawn to converting family tension into workable outcomes: helping owners with divergent interests align on the hard decisions that succession and ownership transitions demand. He excels at turning a family’s philanthropic and generational goals into actionable investment and capital policy, and building the strong governance systems required for effective stewardship. As a trusted partner and collaborative leader, he builds meaningful relationships, holds a neutral role amid competing interests, and works where hard realities and human emotion meet to help families move forward aligned and engaged.
Most recently, Leo served as Chief Financial Officer of a complex, multi-branch family’s real estate business and family office, where he guided the group through a period of succession. His operational leadership spanned finance, tax, investment, governance, and real estate development, ultimately building an institutional-grade family office platform. Across his public practice career, Leo has worked extensively with enterprising families. As a Partner with a Big Four global accounting and consulting firm, he advised national and global clients across diverse industries including real estate, construction, and entertainment, while working closely with boards and their audit and risk committees.
Leo is a Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). He is a Kellogg Executive Scholar, having completed his executive education at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Chartered Accountancy with a minor in Economics from the University of Waterloo.
He lives in Toronto with his wife, three children, and their Portuguese Water Dog.
