Anurat Kongtoranin is a second-generation member of an 80-year-old Thai family business, and a trusted advisor to multi-generational enterprises across Asia.
With over 35 years of operational leadership—including as Executive Director of Bangkok Fastening Co., Ltd., Thailand’s largest family-owned fastener manufacturer—Anurat brings deep, lived experience to his advisory work in family governance, succession planning, and strategic development.
Anurat focuses on helping enterprising families build governance structures, develop family constitutions, and prepare rising-generation leaders. His approach blends theoretical rigor with practical wisdom, shaped by his own journey navigating generational transitions within his family enterprise.
A recognized connector in the Asian family business ecosystem, Anurat is a Founder and Learning Officer of FBX (Family Business eXponential), a platform dedicated to accelerating family business exchange and growth. He is also a founding member of the Family Firm Institute (FFI) Asian Circle, a regional network of advisors and practitioners committed to advancing family enterprise across Asia. He has played a pivotal role in bringing family business education to Thailand. He has lectured to over 500 business families at Chulalongkorn University and Bangkok University and has facilitated governance programs at the Thai Institute of Directors. He also translated the foundational text “Strategic Planning for Family Business” by Randel S. Carlock and John L. Ward into Thai—the first comprehensive family business handbook in the local language.
Anurat holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA from the Sasin School of Management at Chulalongkorn University. He earned Advanced Certificates in Family Business Advising and Family Wealth Advising from FFI in Boston, and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business Online. He also holds a Director Certificate from the Thai Institute of Directors.
Based in Bangkok and fluent in Thai and English, Anurat travels extensively throughout Asia Pacific. He is passionate about bridging Eastern and Western approaches to family enterprise governance, helping families build enduring legacies.
